Gotta love sandler - The Longest Yard Reviews

I went into the theater after reading pans from the Sacramento Bee and the New York Times. Both critics must have an ultimate grudge against Adam Sandler. But I went to see "The Longest Yard" with an open mind. From the beginning, Sandler proves that underneath his comedic side, he can act. Granted, he'll never win an Oscar, but he'll keep audiences laughing for years to come. Fellow former Saturday Night Live member Chris Rock was good as a sidekick. He was his usual sarcastic, "don't kick the crap out of me" attitude that makes him so lovable. James Cromwell once again proves that he could've made a great bad guy in another life. The man is just so marvelous at being menevolent. Rapper Nelly surprised me twice during this movie. Once, by proving that he is an amazing athlete. And twice, by acting pretty well. Again, he won't win any Oscars, but he's not bad at acting. The story was great. By the time the movie ended, I was completely rooting for the convicts. And the guard captain actually gained sympathy and respect by achieving his humanity. The only thing that I didn't like was the subtitles with the giant. That was too distracting and irritating. Overall, this movie is worth seeing. If you don't see it on the big screen, go ahead and rent this movie. This movie will end up being a part of any Adam Sandler fans' collection.
