Hilarious - The Longest Yard Reviews
This was the funniest movie that I have seen all year, and I have seen a lot of movies. They picked the perfect actors to play the parts. This movie had me and my girlfriend laughing the whole time. It is a great movie for the whole family to go out and see.
Wwe meets football! - The Longest Yard Reviews
This was by far one of the best movies I've ever seen. DO NOT TRUST THE STUPID CRITICS ON THIS ONE! This movie was highly entertaining and kept the viewers interested until the very end. Bill Goldberg gave an outstanding performance, as well as Stone Cold Steve Austin, and Kevin Nash. All three did really well, and I'm not just saying this because I'm a wrestling fan, although I do highly suggest wrestling fans go and check this one out. Stone Cold Steve Austin and Kevin Nash are both on the gaurds' side, and Bill Goldberg is a convict. This movie is loaded with plenty of violence and humor, and is suitable for all viewers.
Theatrical types keep your distance.... - The Longest Yard Reviews
... this movie is not for you!
Sports fans, Footballers & Rappers,
Get your butts in the seat! One of Sandlers "Top 2". Nevermind that Chicago Trib snob, Kevin Williams (see title line). The point of this remake is not to put into "Suspense". It is a Beat the Bad Guy, Bring your spirit up by the Boot Straps Comedy. It does just that! Need a lift right before your next game? Get your butt in the seat! My old azz was ready to dress out again! Even tho, I'd never get up again.
Crewe (Sandler) showing Aikman skill and in an age of the "athlete converted to rapper" Megget (Nelly) one ups the musical wanna-be's with cuts & spins of a college rocket. Use the "n" word on Nelly... get your butt cooked. Deacon (Irvin), tough hardened panther type didn't show much new on the football field... but pay attention to the B-ball court. It only took the same two moves to make a GREAT scene! (Oh right, Sandler was pretty convincing too)
Yes, "th Man" was depicted as a the steroid dropping storm trooper. I don't dis-like correctional officers after watching The Longest Yard... but you gotta admit the casting director did well! 6 foot 8 of semsitive nipples....damn!
Take it from a football movie fanatic...
...get your butt in the seat!!!

Football fun behind bars - The Longest Yard Reviews
Let's face it, if you are interested in seeing this movie, you are not expecting to see any Oscar-worthy performances or story lines. But if you go in expecting to laugh and to be entertained, you will not be disappointed.
The story follows the same plot as the original: Superstar quarterback goes to jail and assembles a makeshift team of sacrificial lambs to take on the abusive and overbearing team of guards. I like the basic storyline of the underdogs getting a chance to pay back the bullies but parts of the storyline get a bit outlandish. I really thought that getting the game televised on ESPN2 was a strech. But in a day when "professional" dodgeball has a better TV contract than the NHL, who am I to doubt it?
The acting was mostly left to funny one-liners and slapstick/smashmouth physical comedy which I fully expected and got. Considering that much of the acting was done by former athletes such as Brian Bosworth, Bill Romanowski, "Stone Cold" Steve Austin, and Bill Goldberg, the acting was at least believable but I don't envision any of these guys in a leading role even in a silent movie. Adam Sandler delivered his usual offbeat comedy but I was actually most entertained by the sharp, quick-witted humor of Chris Rock.
The action scenes were well done overall and I also liked the use of split-screen shots to show different angles and players during the game. On a side note, I wish they had used the split-screen on Courtney Cox in the opening scene of the movie because I found myself trying to figure out if those things were real throughout the rest of the movie.
I was also fairly impressed that the actors and athletes were able to at least appear on film like real competitive football teams.
Overall, I found the movie to be very funny, entertaining, and worth the price of admission.
2nd night laughter - The Longest Yard Reviews
I took my son to see this movie on the second night of opening, the theatre was packed and everyone was laughing throughout the movie. Looking back at the original movie I believe this one to be far better with the help oh Adam Sandler(Paul Crewe),Chris Rock (Caretaker),and the return of Burt Reynolds as (Nate Scarboro).....The rest of the cast including actual football stars and wrestling stars prove to be a good choice in filling up the lineup.I would definately reccomend this movie to my friends and I will be buying it on dvd when it becomes available.
Laugh till you cry!! - The Longest Yard Reviews
When I walked out of the theater I had mascara streaks running from both corners of my eyes....I laughed so hard my eyes watered. It was great. It's OKAY to do silly remakes of outstanding classics....really.....if you want to laugh out loud...see this flick!!!

Worth 2 see.?? :) - The Longest Yard Reviews
YAP! this movie was really funny..... if, you had brain to undrestand it, but yet adam sandler was the center of it, and made it even more funnier with his special attitude. i think smart and open minded people should watch it.
Original way better - The Longest Yard Reviews
This movie was way too predictable and too centered around Sandler and not enough of Chris Rock, who is 100x funnier than Sandler. Couple funny scenes but not worthy of a good comedy. Burt Reynolds sucked and didnt add much to the flick. Stick with the original, this one fails.
Freaking funny - The Longest Yard Reviews
the longest yard is the greatest and the funniest movie i have ever seen. i would recamend it to all of my friends i think you should watch it, because it will have you on the floor laughing you pants off.

Great fun - The Longest Yard Reviews
If you are not worried about sitting down in the theater and just Laughing Out Loud this is the movie to see. I was a little worried about going to see a Sandler movie since his movies have been lacking the "sandler quality" like happy gilmore etc.
But Sandler has redeemed himself..and then some. He really pulled a great movie out of the attic and remaked it to be a hysterical ride.
I hardly go to the movies because paying 9.00+ dollars is a little rough on the pockets but im glad that i went. This movie is definitely worth it..and im already waiting to buy the DVD and the soundtrack because it was on FIRE.
Great! - The Longest Yard Reviews
This movie was so good! it was funny and not just another stupid movie that takes the same plot as many ones before! A Must See!
Gotta love sandler - The Longest Yard Reviews
I went into the theater after reading pans from the Sacramento Bee and the New York Times. Both critics must have an ultimate grudge against Adam Sandler. But I went to see "The Longest Yard" with an open mind.
From the beginning, Sandler proves that underneath his comedic side, he can act. Granted, he'll never win an Oscar, but he'll keep audiences laughing for years to come.
Fellow former Saturday Night Live member Chris Rock was good as a sidekick. He was his usual sarcastic, "don't kick the crap out of me" attitude that makes him so lovable.
James Cromwell once again proves that he could've made a great bad guy in another life. The man is just so marvelous at being menevolent.
Rapper Nelly surprised me twice during this movie. Once, by proving that he is an amazing athlete. And twice, by acting pretty well. Again, he won't win any Oscars, but he's not bad at acting.
The story was great. By the time the movie ended, I was completely rooting for the convicts. And the guard captain actually gained sympathy and respect by achieving his humanity.
The only thing that I didn't like was the subtitles with the giant. That was too distracting and irritating.
Overall, this movie is worth seeing. If you don't see it on the big screen, go ahead and rent this movie. This movie will end up being a part of any Adam Sandler fans' collection.

The longest yard! - The Longest Yard Reviews
As I watched the longest yard I was nearly knocked out. This lady spilled her soft drink all over the person next to her, who sprang out of his seat accidentally hitting me in the back of the head. It was a cranial skizbowl...wow! My head felt like Nebraska in the 4th quarter during their loss to Texas Tech. The movie was a blur. I asked for my money back but the money had already been deposited, no returns. I thought Sandler and Reynolds turned in brilliant performances. However, I kept hearing Cedric the Entertainer asking Alice if she wanted to go to the Moon!! I don't know if it was from the theater next to us or I was just hearing things. Overall thumbs up! Lots of stuff happening in this one.
Just rent the original - The Longest Yard Reviews
Why did they have to remake this film? Why did they have to cast not-so-funny man Sandler in Burt's role? Does anyone really take him to be some tough football quarterback? The WaterBoy was more his role. And Chris Rock? Did some studio exec say "We need to notch up the humour here and destroy the all time classic movie?"
Just watched the original before this pile of crap and no comparision. The original has an edge to it that this Saturday Night Live skit movie failed to emulate. Want a comedy...go ahead and watch. Want a funny football movie with heart...watch the original.
Looks like it will be good - The Longest Yard Reviews
mensacat45, you are about retarded "this movie is too predictable" Too predictable, eh??? maybe its predictable because its a REMAKE...they're not gonna change the entire story...if they did they would piss off fans of the original movie...what should they do, make the gaurds win as a twist?..That'd be exciting, no that'd be retarded...think before you type, & keep those weak a** comments to yourself

The worst movie at every level - The Longest Yard Reviews
Having seen the original really has no bearing on this movie. Whether you loved the original, or never saw it, it doesn't matter. This movie fails at every possible juncture and every possible level. Not sure what kind of folks are rating this movie, but I can't raise a single positive that happened in this movie. From start to finish the humor in unbelievably bad- even Chris Rock attempting the self-defacating black jokes (his trademark style) falls so far below funny that the film is left to juxtapositioning huge brutish prison inmates with effeminate gay inmates as its last line of defence humor. And that fails too.
Sadler is one of my favorite actors in humor, and he might as well have mailed in his lines, because this simply pukes. I was actually feeling embarassed for him as I watched this film. Nothing is sacred either. No device is left untried (even the close friend being brutally and graphically burned to death in a play for sympathy from the audience) and they all fail with remarkable disdain for an audience they director must have thought would mail in their money as quickly as his cast mailed in their performances (if you can be generous enough to call it that).
James Cromwell has the only possible part that seems viewable, and even in that it just proves to be the unbelievable, unfunny, unmenacing, un-everything part that tears what possible fabric of reality the viewer may be clinging to, as he uttered stupid line after stupid line. I would have rather seen him star in another Babe sequel about the pig who became president than watch this sad performance.
Run, don't walk from the thought of seeing this movie. If you waste your money on this, your grandkids have a right to sue you for a lousy inheritance, because its likely a sign of even greater problems with your judgment. I beg you, STAY AWAY!
Will make 19.5 mill. opening weekend - The Longest Yard Reviews
The Longest Yard was unfortunatley not a suprise. It was what everyone expected from a movie where the direction was more successful than the acting. It will not do bad in box offices due to its oversized budget and advertising, so dont feel sorry for it and go see star wars again. The big budget and star studded blinging actors did nothing but blind the movie and make it dull. (It will make 74 mill. before taken out of theaters)
Best movie i've seen in a long time!!!! - The Longest Yard Reviews
Anyone who thinks this movie is worth an F, is insane. If you don't like Adam Sandler, don't rate it because he's not the whole movie. Personally I thought he did a great job. To me he is a great actor and isn't overrated.

The longest yard - The Longest Yard Reviews
" Good news guys, I didn't spill my beer!" Ha ha ha ha ha! So funny! I loved this fantastic comedy! The story was kinda stupid, the acting was totally funny, the direction kinda sucked, and the visuals are good. I would say this is Adam Sandler's best comedy ever. Happy Gilmore sucked, 50 First Dates was okay, Billy Madason well, average, and 8 Carzy Nights totally dumb. I'm telling you, it's an awesome comedy! 3 stars.
Absolutely funny!!! - The Longest Yard Reviews
I and my 15 year old daughter went to go see "The Longest Yard" last night and couldn't stop talking about it on the way home. It's the funniest movie I've seen in a long time! We laughed through almost the whole movie. Adam Sandler was great as were Burt Reynolds and Chris Rock. I've seen the original movie starring Burt Reynolds, but I liked this version more. I definitely would go see this movie again and I can't wait until the DVD comes out to buy it!
Maybe should have been a sequel? - The Longest Yard Reviews
For all of us who saw the original "The Longest Yard" this movie was funny enough in its own right, but I nevertheless came away with a vague feeling of disappointment. In many ways it was a perfect set-up for a sequel to the original movie. That one was a captivating and hilarious romp through an idealized prison system and an opportunity for Reynolds to show off his athleticism as he strove to make the most of his one last chance to show that he had the guts to stand up to the system. The price he paid in that original story - basically a life sentence in prison for gaining "the longest yard" - established the foundation for a truly great sequel, complete with an opportunity to do it all over again as an elder inmate.
Instead, we got a remake in this "Longest Yard" that tries hard to duplicate the original plot, situations, and even some of the lines. Adam Sandler is unfortunately not the athlete Burt Reynolds was (and worse, not the athlete Reynolds may still be), yet he tries to play Paul Crewe and the film consequently suffers. Sandler's Paul Crewe is a little short of believability, a lot short of talent, and generally attempts to gain either are underdeveloped despite a commendable directing effort. Consequently the story appears a bit ragged, with outrageous and funny situations interspersed with Adam Sandler's Paul Crewe almost "hoping" as he acts that we will take him seriously, and please ignore that old guy with Burt Reynolds' face who we fully expect to be the real thing.
Chris Rock is a pretty good substitution for the original Caretaker, presented refreshingly different from the original with just the right touch of Blackness to smooth out a rough spot in the original film, specifically the participation of the black athletes. Good job, Chris.
Overall, this film is worth going to see, but warnings to all that a sense of wishing that the story of the Mean Machine is being continued rather than re-invented may steal over you. And if you haven't seen the original film yet, please do.

Sandler can't sell it, his worst movie ever!!! - The Longest Yard Reviews
The Longest Yard is a wreck right from the beginning, and what is really sad is how poorly it reflects against the original. It should be illegal to remake a decent movie into a joke piece of trash like this.
Sandler, who I am a fan of, is a train wreck and not close to a Wrecking Crewe. He is completely unbelievable, his character as "Paul Crewe" never develops enough to take seriously. The story jumps and makes no sense. The relationships between the primary characters are just thrown together without any regard to the plot. The movie pushes homosexuality to much, to the point where it is gross and uncomfortable.
Chris Rock is just a joke the whole movie and can't be taken as a real character. When he dies who cares. The side characters are beyond silly; from McDonald's Cheese Burglar to Cloris Leachman (the administrative assistant) underwear freak that wants to ride Crewe. The prison itself is silly and over the top, with no feeling of a correctional institution.
In a word "Stupid" not "funny".
Major flaws - the movie steamrolls over any story telling to get the next joke. For the most part the movie pieced together in to a chain of jokes with no substance. The struggle of the inmates against the guards is not set up well and the audience has very little reason to be on the ?cons? side.
Please learn how to balance comedy and serious
Did you like the original? - The Longest Yard Reviews
If you did then this movie is waaaaaaay funnier. Adam Sandlers best movie so far i believe< even though im really not a fan. This movie is funny, smart, and pretty contriversial so you know it will be a hit.
Touchdown - The Longest Yard Reviews
I've always thought of Adam Sandler as overrated. He's never been a great actor in my eyes, and few of his past jokes have made me laugh. 'The Longest Yard' though has certainly given him more credibility as far as I'm concerned.
The downside of this film is in its plot. Paul "Wrecking" Crewe (Sandler) is a beer-loving bum. His best days are behind him, and he's only a mere shadow of the football superstar he once was. One night, Paul gets caught drunk driving (in a hot Bentley, might I add). He is sent off to Allenville Penitentiary, home to some tough criminals as well as some bumbling fools. Crewe builds his name automatically, and the Warden of the prison has him lead the camp's football team. Paul isn't given much to work with at first, but with time and effort he gains the respect of other convicts who have a knack for football. The convicts are then set to take on the guards in a game, but it seems they may not defeat their steroid-pumped opponents.
I was surprised at how well this cast executed their roles. Chris Rock delivers a very good performance (although he could've used more variety in his jokes), and rap superstar Nelly gave a commendable performance in his big-screen debut. Even former NFL star Michael Irvin does a good job of bringing his gritty character to life.
'The Longest Yard' is pretty funny. I got a good deal of laughs from it, and sometimes it even had me rolling. The soundtrack also features some good songs, two of which were played during the movie (Murphy Lee's 'Stomp' and 216's 'U Should Know').
Overall, 'The Longest Yard' is a flick not to miss out on. With good ol' bone-crunching football and laughs along the way, it's bound to be one of this summer's smashes.
The sandman delivers again! - The Longest Yard Reviews
This Movie Is About Paul "Wrecking" Crewe(Sandler) Who Used To Be A Superstar Football Player But Has Faded Out Of The Spotlight And It Just Happens That He Ends Up In The Same Jail As Former College Champion Nate Scarboro(Reynolds). Crewe Is Then Asked To Put Together A Team Of Prison Inmates To Take On The Guards In A Football Game. Crewe Asks Scarboro To Coach The Team Of Inmates In The Football Game But First Crewe Has To Find More Players To Play On The Team. It's Much Funnier Than The Original. Stone Cold Also Delivers A Good Performance In His Small Part As One Of The Guards. 10/10
What a surprise! - The Longest Yard Reviews
Now I am not usually a big Adam Sandler fan. He has his moments but most of the time his humor makes me flinch. However, this movie had me rolling from the first minute to the last. Up until the final showdown at the end, every line was witty and on point. There was some more obscene moments, but I can overlook that for the generally great humor of the movie.
Nelly plays a surprisingly layered character for the brief time he is on screen. Chris Rock is of course good for a lot of zingers. Adam Sandler's character is much like his characters in his other movies, but not as silly or goofy in this one.
As it is an MTV film, there are some cool freeze action shots and the football sequences are surprisingly realistic in the fact that there are no easy touchdowns and the team isn't automatically a winner just because they are the underdog. They do struggle a lot and that was quite original for a football movie.
The movie tries too hard at being about "doing the right thing" and takes on the vibe of most sports-related movies, but if you are looking for a laugh, this one will do it for you. If you're looking for a good story with depth, I would look elsewhere.
Way better than the original - The Longest Yard Reviews
Sandler comes back with a huge hit. Even thought it probably won't be #1 because of Star Wars it should rake in some major money. It's a great comedy for all football fans. I'm sick of all you old farts complaining about remakes because all the remakes are better IDIOTS! Better actors, better cameras and effects. Simple As That!
